NURTUREart Benefit on 10/28

I was delighted to find out that my piece, "Reach the Sky (Eclipse)," was chosen for inclusion in NURTUREart's annual exhibition benefit, taking place this year at Bernarducci Meisel Gallery in midtown (37 W. 57th St. NYC) on Monday, October 28th, 5-9pm.  NURTUREart had over 600 submissions for artwork donations, but narrowed them down to 260 works for the show, and I'm glad to be one of them!

Tickets for the event are on the pricey side, but it's a benefit for an awesome non-profit space that needs funds to continue their programming.  And, with the purchase of an upper level ticket, you are able to go home with an original artwork!  So if you can spare the money, you should attend.   Although I've never officially participated in a show at their Brooklyn space, I've always admired their mission and the way they run their non-profit exhibition space and programming.  It's super cool that they support both emerging  artists and curators.

Additional benefit and ticket information information can be found at their website: NURTUREart.org

Bonfire & closing for THE FARM PROJECT: 10/26

I'll be attending the closing reception for the Collaborative Concepts exhibition at Saunders Farm on Saturday, October 26th, 2-6pm.  Apparently every year they have a large bonfire during the closing, and many of the artists "dispose" of their works in some sort of crazy ritualistic fashion. I may be one of them, but I want to see how my fabric installation, "What we do in Secret," has held up before I decide.  Come early to see the show before the burning begins!

THE FARM PROJECT 2013 Opens this Weekend

I just finished a new installation, "What We Do in Secret," for Collaborative Concept's annual exhibition on Saunder's Farm in Garrison, NY.  It's a bit of an experiment for me, having never created works that have to live in the outdoors for two months before, but I'm happy with the results.

If you've never been to the farm before, it's a definite experience, with art installed throughout the rolling hills.  The farm allows many gorgeous Hudson Valley views as well, but be sure to wear closed toe shoes and look out for cow patties, since this is a functioning farm as well as an exhibition space.

The opening (with some performance art) is this weekend, on Saturday, August 31st, from 2-6pm, but there is also a mid-run reception in September and a closing reception in October.

Chronogram Magazine Review

Chronogram featured a review of "THE POWER OF PLACE," written by Phoenicia, NY based writer Sparrow,  in their May 2013 issue. My work "Eclipse (total, my heart)" was pictured in the print and online versions of the article. The exhibition is extended one week-- see it before May 5th!

My mixed-media on paper piece "Eclipse (total, my heart)," from the series "Glowing there where the sky meets the trees," is included in "THE POWER OF PLACE," a group exhibition at the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art (HVCCA), in Peekskill, NY.

The exhibition opens with a public reception on January 27th, 5-7pm, and is on view through April 28, 2013.  The exhibition features 16 emerging artists currently working in locations throughout the Hudson Valley region.
